I work spontaneously and rarely begin with a set plan in mind. I let each painting evolve intuitively as I build each layer of paint. While the majority of my work is on canvas, I do sometimes paint on wood or on archival paper. I work with materials that allow me to build layers on a surface. I paint primarily with acrylic paints and gesso. I often incorporate charcoal, graphite, oil sticks and ink. Each piece is then finished off with a layer of gloss varnish to enhance the colors and depth and also protect the surface of the painting.
I also do commission work. People sometimes have a certain size or color scheme in mind, or want something similar to a piece I might already have sold. Hence, commissions make it easy for any given parameters.
